Subject: Immunology (MICR 330): Fall 2022
Colleagues, could you please distribute this announcement to undergraduate students in your department?
Many thanks in advance,
Vitaly
Immunology (MICR 330): Fall 2022 (TR 12:55-2:10pm)
Are you uncertain how to interpret continuous flow of information about COVID19? Do you want to know how the basic tests for viral infection work and what is an ELISA-based test? What type of therapy is using convalescent plasma? What may be differences between different COVID19 vaccines? Are patients with COVID19 dying because of viral effects or is it an over-reaction of the immune system? How does host control viral (and bacterial, fungal, parasitic, etc.) infections? How to interpret data from clinical trials? Given a patient with some symptoms, how can one use differential diagnosis to determine the root cause of the disease?
If you find these questions interesting, perhaps a course offered in Fall 2022 "Immunology" (MICR330) is for you. In this course you will learn answers to the above mentioned questions and much more. You will learn how one of the fundamental systems of humans, the immune system, keeps our bodies healthy and clean from pathogens. You will also learn how it sometimes fails to provide protection and instead causes pathology, e.g., autoimmune disease. By identifying causes of illness of patients you will learn of the fundamental skill in life - differential diagnosis.
If interested or have questions, please contact the instructor for the course Vitaly Ganusov ([log in to unmask]).
I hope to see many of you in the class.
Vitaly
