Subject: Fractional differential equations, Hybrid/Italy, Jul 2021

The INdAM Workshop "Fractional differential equations: modeling,
discretization and numerical solvers" will be held in Rome (Italy),
from 12 to 14 July 2021.

This workshop aims to bring together two communities of numerical
analysts working in the field of fractional differential equations,
one working on methods for the solution of differential problems and
one working on the side of numerical linear algebra, to share
knowledge and create synergies. It also intends to encourage meetings
with researchers who deal with these problems from a more applicative
point of view, both in fields such as mathematical physics, and in
fields with a higher technological content such as image recognition
and engineering (especially in automatic control of systems).

It is a hybrid workshop with a maximum of 30 registered participants
in presence and the possibility of attending the Workshop through
electronic platforms that will be communicated later.

Invited keynote speakers are:
Jin Bangti - University College London - UK
Lehel Banjai - Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh - SCOTLAND - UK
Marta D'Elia - Sandia National Laboratories, Livemore (CA) - USA
Michael Kwok-Po Ng - The University of Hong Kong - HONG KONG
Abner Salgado - University of Tennessee, Knoxville (TN) - USA
Jie Shen - Purdue University - USA
Martin Stynes - Computational Science Research Center, Beijing - CHINA

Registration to participate via online platforms and receive the link
is open on the Workshop website https://fractionalworkshop.github.io/

The workshop is organized and funded by the Istituto Nazionale di Alta
Matematica (INdAM).

A research showcase and future directions event from the EPSRC
Liverpool Centre for Mathematics in Healthcare (LCMH), established in
2015 at the University of Liverpool in partnership with Lancaster
University and Liverpool John Moores University.

The programme brings together academic researchers, clinicians and
industry to share latest research findings and celebrate how
multidisciplinary research is making a difference to the healthcare
sector. It is also an opportunity to identify potential new
collaborations in the context of emerging challenges and opportunities
for the next generation of mathematics-related research for
healthcare.

Subject: Faculty Positions, Applied/Comp Math, Univ Adolfo Ibanez, Chile

The Faculty of Engineering and Sciences (FES) of Universidad Adolfo
Ibanez has great pleasure in inviting applications for open rank
faculty positions in Applied and Computational Mathematics due to
start as early as March 1st 2022 on the Campus Santiago.

The FES is developing a new research and educational program in
interdisciplinary, applied and computational mathematics. The selected
applicants are expected to contribute to this endeavor by joining the
current team of 20+ faculty members working in these areas.

We are looking for candidates with a solid mathematical and
computational background, with high potential to advance the
mathematical foundations of interdisciplinary research in science,
engineering, and/or the social domains. Particular attention will be
given to applications that show strong synergy between mathematical
modeling, high-performance and advanced scientific computing, discrete
algorithms and stochastic processes, as well as data assimilation and
uncertainty quantification.

FES seeks outstanding researchers with a marked academic interest in
high quality education and research, with expertise in both theory and
applications, and motivated by multidisciplinary work at the interface
with engineering. Candidates are expected to hold (or be close to
completing) a doctoral degree in applied mathematics, computer
science, or a related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate
the promise of outstanding scholarship in every regard, including
research and teaching.
