Fellow members of the Mathematics Department,
Today is the last CAM seminar of the semester, and hopefully the last
one that will have to be via Zoom.
We will have two presentations by our graduate students. Speakers +
titles + abstacts + login info are below.

Title: Asymptotically Compatible Schemes for Discretization of Nonlocal
Problems
Abstract: In this talk we will review a recent work by X. Tian and Q.
Du, where parameterized families of Hilbert spaces are utilized to show
asymptotic convergence properties of solutions to nonlocal problems.
The motivating examples come from peridynamics and nonlocal diffusion
models, on which the aforementioned function spaces are the bridge
towards finite element analyses. Time permitting, numerical analyses
designed to verify the convergence results will be covered. Connections
to ongoing work with T. Mengesha and A. Salgado will be discussed as
well.
