seminar on computational mathematics jointly organized by

The seminar is named in honor of Prof. Francisco-Javier Sayas
(1968-2019). In addition to his many achievements he played a key role
in establishing and running the annual meeting DelMar Numerics Day,
and was dedicated to its mission of giving younger mathematicians an
opportunity to share their work with the community.

The seminar will meet via Zoom on Tuesdays at 3:30pm (Eastern Time)

field of "Mathematics - Mathematical Modelling of Industrial Life
Cycles". The professorship is part of the Werner-von-Siemens Centre
for Industry and Science (WvSC).

Working field: The position requires research and teaching in the
development, analysis and implementation of mathematical methods for
the automatized, energy based generation of model hierarchies, for the
data based identification of model parameters, as well as error
analysis and uncertainty quantification. It is expected that the
successful applicant will participate in major research projects, such
as collaborative research centers and research training
groups. Candidates should be able to teach in German and

The KULeuven Center for Mathematical Plasma Astrophysics is looking
for a PostDoctoral candidate with interest in applying Machine
Learning (ML) and Data Assimilation techniques to space science. The
position will combine the study of simulations (massively parallel
kinetic simulation with particle in cell methods, massively parallel
fluid simulations of the magnetospheric system) and observations from
remote sensing (e.g. SDO, solar dynamic observatory) and in situ
(e.g. magnetospheric multiscale mission MMS, Parker solar probe PSP
and solar orbiter SolO). The work will take place in collaboration
with the Leuven.AI Institute (ai.kuleuven.be) and the AIDA Horizon
2020 project (www.aida-space.eu), a network of leading European and
international experts in ML and space science.

Profile: At least three, of the following items should be very
familiar to the selected candidate, or the candidate should have an
interest to learn in a concentrated initial effort: Machine Learning,
Deep Neural Networks, Bayesian Methods, Data assimilation methods
(Kalman filters), Solar, Magnetospheric and Solar wind data analysis,
Expertise on computer programming with Python, C, C++ or Fortran,
Knowledge of advanced parallel programing (OpenMP, MPI, CUDA) Plasma
physics, astrophysics or space physics, Numerical methods for fluid
dynamics, MHD and kinetic physics particle in cell (PIC) methods.

Offer: Starting: Immediately or upon availability of the selected
candidate, with target date September 1, 2020. Working remotely will
be possible and encouraged until the COVID19 crisis is not
history. However, the buildings of KULeuven are now open regularly and

aims to establish a solution theory describing oscillatory solutions

aspects of Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics theory. The position will be
hosted in the Computer Science Department at the College of William

by a Department of Energy grant, is initially for one year and
renewable for a second year based upon performance. The candidate is
expected to lead a research program that involves advanced
computational methods for the solution of various linear operators,
the improvement of current multigrid technologies, the variance
reduction in computations of disconnected diagrams, as well as their
implementations on high performance computing resources.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. In a scientific computing area, with
strong programming skills in C/C++. Strong background in one of the
three areas: Lattice QCD, numerical linear algebra, or high
performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong background across more of the above
areas and experience with QUDA or CUDA programming.

The Institute of Mathematics and Scientific Computing at the
University of Graz is looking for a Project Assistent without
doctorate (30 hours a week; fixed-term employment for the period of 3
years; position to be filled as of October 1 st 2020)

The position is part of a research project on machine learning
approaches for data-driven cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The project
will be realized in close collaboration with the University Hospital
Graz, and aims at a better understanding of the physiological
conditions of patients during such interventions. To achieve this, we
will develop parameter identification techniques for
differential-equation-based physiological models as well as machine
learning approaches, both of which can build on a unique data set of
vital measurements available at the University Hospital Graz.

Applicants are expected to have a Master's degree in Mathematics,
Computer Science or a related field, solid knowledge in applied
mathematics and good programming knowledge, ideally in Python.

The position comes with the possibility to work on a relevant
dissertation and the classification of this position according to the
