Dear Math Honors students,
If you plan to graduate at the end of this semester, please make sure that everything looks good in DARS. Here are some things to look for:
1. Make sure you have at least 3 hours total of Math 498 (honors thesis). Math 498 has variable credit (1-3). If you don't specify the number of hours you want, the system will register you for 1 hour only. Ms. Murr can assist you if you need to make changes to the total number of hours for this semester.
2. Make sure you have 2 hours of Math 497 and 2 hours of Math 397.
3. If the system shows that you did not meet the Math 398 requirement, let me know and we can write a petition to waive this requirement. Math 398 is a recently introduced 0-credit hour class which verifies that you met the requirements of the honors program. Since some of you joined Math Honors recently, you may not have had the chance to take this class for 4 semesters as is is required. A petition will solve this issue.
4. If there are other issues such as the total number of honors hours or the math GPA, let me know.
5. Don’t forget that I need your thesis by the end of the semester. Once I have it, I can sign the letter that you satisfied the requirements of the Math Honors Program.
