Dear Math Honors students,
Tomorrow (Friday) is the last day to register for spring classes.
If you plan to graduate at the end of this semester, please make sure that you have the number of Math 498 credit hours (honors thesis hours) required by your catalogue year. This number is either 3 or 4, depending on the catalogue year. Check it in DARS.
Math 498 has variable credit (1-3), so make sure you enrolled in enough hours for this semester. If you forget to specify the number of hours you want, the system will register you for 1 hour only. Ms. Murr can assist you if you can't add this class yourself. If you need 4 credit hours of 498 to graduate, but you did not take 498 last semester, please contact me as soon as possible.
Another common issue to watch for in DARS is if you have enough hours of Math 497. We recently switched from 4 hours of 497 to 2 hours of 497 plus 2 hours of 397. If DARS does not recognize that you took 397 (by saying you took 2 hours of 497 and you miss 2 more), let me know and we can petition for that.
Also, don’t forget that I need your thesis by the end of the semester. Once I have it, I can sign the letter that you satisfied the requirements of the Math Honors Program.
