The West Texas Applied Math Graduate Minisymposium will take place on
Friday April 28th at Texas Tech University. It is addressed to all
graduate students and post-docs in the area of applied mathematics.
It will be a one day event with contributed talks of 25 minutes each
plus 5 minutes for questions. A poster presentation will take place
during the lunch break. The day after the event, there will be a
barbecue open to all participants of the minisymposium. It is a great

It is our pleasure to announce the workshop "Numerical analysis of
stochastic partial differential equations" (NASPDE 2017) on June
21-22, 2017 at the Johannes Kepler university Linz.
The NASPDE workshop takes place once a year. The goal of this
conference is to promote recent advances in numerical analysis related
to Stochastic Partial Differential Equations (SPDEs) and Random
Processes and their applications. It covers various domains from

The CIME SUMMER SCHOOL on "Splines and PDEs: Recent Advances from
Approximation Theory to Structured Numerical Linear Algebra" will be
held in Cetraro(Italy), at the Grand Hotel S. Michele, during the week

The school will cover the most advanced mathematical developments and
numerical tools originating in the numerical treatment of PDEs based

Subject: PhD Position, Computer Models of Atrial Fibrillation, New Zealand
Atrial fibrillation (AF), leading to an irregular and rapid heart rate
in the smaller/upper chambers of the heart, is the most common
sustained heart rhythm disturbance. AF is associated with substantial
morbidity and mortality. However, the current clinical treatment for
AF is suboptimal. The PhD student will develop image-based
mathematical/computer models by including the most accurately measured
human functional and structural data and use them to investigate the
basic mechanisms behind AF and the effective ablation strategy for AF
termination. The proposed project is part of an international
collaboration.
The ideal candidates will have a Masters' or a Bachelors' degree with
Honours (Second Class Honours, Division One or better) in Engineering
or Mathematics, and are good at least one computer language
(Matlab/C/C++/Fortran). The candidate needs to be passionate about
