Greetings Everyone!
Employees and employers must enter "N/A" in every field that is not
applicable, no entry field can be left blank on the Form I-9. If you complete
the Form I-9 electronically, it will self populate these fields for you. If you use
a printed Form I-9, you will both be responsible for entering N/A yourselves. In
order to avoid fines and penalties, Form I-9's that have blank fields will be
considered incomplete and returned for correction.
Also, do not write the citizenship/immigration status in the box at the top
right of page two. You are to enter the NUMERIC value as selected by the
employee-i.e., A citizen of the United States = 1, A noncitizen national of the
United States = 2, A lawful permanent resident = 3, and An alien Authorized
to work = 4.
Just a reminder: On January 1, 2017 hires, the I-9 Certification date will be
January 3, 2017.
Happy Holidays,
Cathy Milligan
