Happy Beautiful, Cool October!

Next week we are honored to have Dr. James Zogby, co-founder and president of the
Arab American Institute in Washington, DC, provide our Fall 2016 Distinguished Global
Security Lecture. Join us in the Toyota Auditorium on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 5:30 pm for, "The
US and the Middle East: How We Got into the Mess We're In and What We Can Do About
It." Dr. Zogby also servesd as an advisor to the Democratic National Committee and was
an advisor to the Bernie Sanders campaign.

Just a reminder that this is the final week for registering to vote! Our "Challenge of the
Policy Centers" is almost over as Oct. 11 is the last day to register to vote. We are still
far ahead of the Graham Center all due to the energy and commitment of our students,
faculty and staff. We stand at 2,163 (UT) to 1,132 (UF). If you haven't seen our video
about the challenge, check it out here: http://bakercenter.utk.edu/ut-vs-uf-the-battle-of-
the-policy-centers-beat-the-gators/

As we continue to present events to inform you about policy issues and where the
Presidential candidates stand, don' miss our next Baker Cafe on Oct. 20, 12:30 pm in the
Reading Room. Baker Center Director and economist, Dr. Matt Murray, will discuss
"Presidential Economics: Rhetoric and Reality." Matt will provide valuable insight into the
economy and future possibilities.

All are free and open to the public See you next week and REGISTER TO VOTE!
