The campus is experiencing arbitrary network connectivity issues since yesterday limited to random users/IP addresses and internet resources.
CITS networking folks worked most of the night to isolate the problem. Finding a random problem in the volume and randomness of network traffic is a tedious process. It appears that the issue is being caused by the core router for the main campus and satellite sites. The resident hall connectivity has not been impacted.
CITS is scheduling a network downtime for tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 5:30am to 8:30am to service the equipment . During this time users, including in the resident halls, may experience intermittent internet connectivity loss. We anticipate the servicing to be completed in less time, but we would like to leave a buffer for the unexpected.
