Subject: UT SIS Accreditation Visit
On behalf of Dr. Dania Bilal, SIS Interim Director:
Hello Advisory Board Members.
As announced previously, an External Review Panel for ALA's Office of Accreditation will conduct a site visit at SIS in early April. The Panel has requested a meeting with the SIS Advisory Board. That meeting is scheduled for Sunday, April 3rd from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM EST via Zoom conference platform. Two of the four panel members will meet with the Board. Please note that the remaining members will meet during the same span of time with alumni and employers in another session.
It is important to the future of our program that we have as much participation from Advisory Board members as possible. We will send you an invitation to connect by Zoom. You may connect by phone or video conference. We hope you can join the call! Thank you for you continued support.
You can access the final version of the SIS COA Report at: https://www.dropbox.com/home/COA/COA%20-%20ERP%202016%20Version%202?preview=SIS+COA+Program+Plan+Version+2.pdf
Information about the Accreditation Process:
"Graduating from an ALA-accredited program provides greater flexibility in the types of libraries and jobs you can apply for and enhances your career mobility. Most employers require an ALA-accredited master's for most professional level positions, and some states require an ALA-accredited degree to work as a professional librarian in public or school libraries. ALA accreditation indicates that the program has undergone a self-evaluation process, been reviewed by peers, and meets the standards established by the American Library Association and Committee on Accreditation".
