Happy Spring Break for those of you enjoying some time off!  We have a number of 
global security events coming up, including some last-minute additions. So mark your 
calendar now!  All in the Toyota and free and open to the public, unless noted. For more

Monday, March 21, 4:30 pm, Kakehashi Project - Report from our 11 students and Dr. 
Wiegand on their December trip to Japan, courtesy of the Japanese Ministry of Culture!

Wed., March 23, 4:30 pm, Global Security Lecture: "Islamic Terrorism in Indonesia and 
Malaysia" with Dr. Anup K. Datta, former professor, Political Science, North Bengal 
University, India

Monday, April 4, 4:00 pm. "To the Moon, Alice!" Former US Senator and Lunar Astronaut 
Harrison "Jack" Schmitt returns to the Baker Center. Thanks to UT Planetary Geosciences 
Institute  for sponsoring his visit. 

Tuesday, April 5, Noon, "Fundamental Free-Speech Principles:  Threats to the First 
Amendment" David Hudson, First Amendment expert and Nashville lawyer, will present 
this critical topic affecting our four freedoms. David has a wonderful way of presenting 
this information - so don't miss it!  

Tuesday, April 5, 5:30 pm, Global Security Lecture - "Emerging Regional Challenges," 
Ambassador Sameh Aboul-Enein, Head of the Permanent Delegation of the League of Arab 
States and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International 
Organizations, Geneva, Switzerland.
 
Monday, April 11, 5:30 pm, Ashe Lecture - "Choosing Diplomatic Options to Engage 
Enemies" Ambassador Carey Cavanaugh, career foreign service officer presents this 
lecture. Presently the director of the Univ. of Kentucky Patterson School of Diplomacy

Wed., April 13, 5:30 pm, As part of Navy Week in Knoxville, Rear Admiral Terry Moulton, 
Deputy Surgeon General and Deputy Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery for the US 
Navy will present a lecture.
