Hello,
I'm Pam Armentrout and work here in the math department with the
graduate program (my office is next door to Tina). I know that many of
you are currently reviewing and applying to graduate schools. Part of my
job is collecting, reviewing, etc., our graduate applications. I also
meet with visiting potential grad students to our program. Although you
are applying to schools other than UT, I'd be happy to help you navigate
the application process. If you have questions or want to bounce around
some ideas, please feel free to stop by my office in 225A, and I'll be
happy to talk "grad school" with you. Drop by if you only have a few
questions, otherwise I'm happy to schedule a time we can meet. I'm
generally here from 7:30-4:30 and go to lunch from 12-1.
I also want to make you aware of the "Resolution Regarding Graduate
Scholars, Fellows, Trainees and Assistants" as set forth by the Council
of Graduate Schools (see attached). Almost all graduate schools in the
US are members of the council and thereby agree to this resolution.
Briefly, the resolution states that a student receiving an offer of an
assistantship does not have to reply with their decision until April 15.
Have a good day,
Pam
