Assistant/Associate Professor Electronic Resources Librarian [Tenure-track]
University of Tennessee at Martin, Paul Meek Library

The University of Tennessee at Martin seeks a collegial and service-oriented
professional to serve as a Electronic Resources Librarian at the Paul Meek
Library. The Library provides curricular, information, and resource support
to academic programs offering 17 baccalaureate degrees in more than 100
specialized fields.  Master’s degrees are offered in business
administration, educational leadership, counseling, teacher education,
agriculture and natural resources, and family and consumer sciences. The
Electronic Resources Librarian reports directly to the Head of Support
Services. 

The University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) is a primary campus in the
University of Tennessee system located in northwest Tennessee approximately
125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville.  UTM has a
combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment of approximately 6,500
students.  The University’s emphasis is rooted in excellence of
undergraduate instruction.

A.	Electronic Resources

•	Identifies potential electronic resources/services, investigates/compares
vendor products/offers, and makes recommendations for additions or
modifications to electronic resources
•	Establishes and maintains effective vendor relations throughout the entire
life cycle of electronic products/services (including customization and
resolution of technical issues)
•	Responsible for management of the library’s electronic resource management
system and its interrelationship with other integrated library system
products/services
•	Loads, updates, maintains, and withdraws digital/electronic records
(including metadata) and coordinates the bibliographic
documentation/description of electronic resources (including MARC and
bibliographic records)
•	Collects, maintains, and reports on user and other related statistics

B.  Other Duties
•	Serves as Library liaison to designated departments, providing collection
development (with a primary focus on undergraduate populations), and
outreach activities as well as the creation and updating of Library (Lib)
Guides  and other finding aids, tools, or tutorials.
•	Maintains awareness of trends and advances in the field by attending
professional workshops, meetings, conferences and other events
•	Progress successfully along the promotion and tenure track, and
participate fully as a member of the university   faculty including serving
on internal library and campus-wide faculty and related committees
•	Performs other duties as required
•	Work will involve occasionally climbing ladders and lifting up to 25
pounds to shoulder level. The successful candidate must be willing to accept
a faculty appointment at an assistant/associate level and meet University of
Tennessee standards for promotion and tenure. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Masters of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA accredited program or equivalent
• 1-2 years positional related library experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•	Experience with an integrated library system (Innovative Interfaces
preferred) and an electronic resource management system (ERM)
•	Familiarity with RDA, AACR2, MARC cataloging standards, and a
bibliographic utility (OCLC preferred)
•	Experience with electronic resource usage statistics standards and protocols 
•	Familiarity with issues relating to electronic resources such as
implementation and troubleshooting

Salary/Benefits: 
This is a twelve-month appointment with faculty rank at the
Assistant/Associate Professor level; benefits include a choice of health and
retirement plans, tuition waiver for self, and partial tuition waivers for
dependents.
