If you are a first-year student at UTK who is familiar with the material in freshman Calculus (Math 141, 142, 147, 148) you are invited to participate in the 124th Allen Medal exam. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 11 in Ayres 113, at 4:00pm. You do NOT need to be enrolled in freshman calculus to be eligible to take this exam.
The Allen Medal is one of the oldest annual prizes of the University of Tennessee. This year's prize consists of $500 and a Gold Medal (first place), and $100 (second place). The exam is 1.5 hours long, contains several interesting problems and grading is via partial credit.
To participate you must sign up for it. The sign-up sheet is in the Mathematics Office, located in Ayres 227. Calculators are not allowed during the exam. Please bring your UT ID to the exam.
Good luck!
