Hello –
 
Please find attached an invitation to a special event scheduled for April 28 at the 
University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Dr. Engin Serpersu, Professor of Biochemistry 
and Cellular Biology at UT, is currently serving as a Program Director within the 
National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Biological Sciences. 
 
In the spirit of collaboration and with hopes for bringing more external funding to 
higher education institutions across Tennessee, Dr. Serpersu will share some of his 
ideas with Tennessee researchers from UT and neighboring institutions of higher 
education. 
 
In addition to highlighting NSF funding opportunities with a special emphasis on 
NSF’s interest in balancing its funding portfolio, the afternoon will include a panel 
of UT faculty with NSF funding who will share tips to their success.  Finally, we’ll 
conclude with a brief reception to foster new relationships between our many fine 
institutions.
