Applications are now available for the Congressional Internship Program. The
Congressional Internship Program is a scholarship and nomination program
designed to enhance students’ opportunities to work with Tennessee’s
Legislators in Washington, D.C. Students who are selected to participate will be
nominated for an internship and awarded a scholarship to offset costs of living in
Washington D.C. for the duration of the internship.

Selected interns work closely with legislative staff on a variety of projects, as
well as assist with clerical tasks, depending upon the office in which they are
placed. Summer internships will last approximately six weeks and will begin
either in May or July. Fall and Spring internships will last approximately 13
weeks and will begin approximately in September of 2015. Academic credit is an
option, depending on coursework and major. Applications for Summer/Fall 2015
Applications are available January 5th through January 29th. Interested students
may attend the CLS interest session on January 14th at 5pm in the University

applications require a resume and a letter of recommendation.

The program is open to all majors with an interest in government and Capitol
Hill careers who meet the following criteria at the time of application:

§  Must have completed 60+ credit hours and be a rising Junior, Senior or
graduate/law student at the time of application.

§  Must have at least a 3.0 and be in good standing with the University of
Tennessee.

§  May 2015 Graduates are also eligible to participate.
