Dear Friends,
It is with very mixed emotions I announce my plans to retire this spring. I have been associated with Operation Stand Down since November 1995 as a volunteer, board member and staff member, almost twenty years. During my career I have enjoyed working at many different companies, many different jobs and with many wonderful people. I can truthfully say that my time with Operation Stand Down has been the most enjoyable time of my life. Working with the many volunteers and supporters, the many wonderful organizations and the community in general coming together to provide services to Veterans in need is something of which I am extremely proud. Working with the dedicated staff of this organization and the wonderful people who serve and have served on our Board of Directors has always kept me energized wanting to do more for Veterans.
The dynamic growth of Operation Stand Down over the years is a direct result of our caring community. Working with each of you and with the many organizations that make-up Operation Stand Down has been the height of my professional career. We have a truly dedicated staff and great Board members who I know will continue to work together focused on the mission of helping Veterans and their families.
Our Board is working with The Center for Nonprofit Management to hire the next Executive Director. I plan to stay until that person is found and then work with him or her as long as I am needed, until that person feels comfortable leading Operation Stand Down. The job description can be found on their website: www.cnm.org<http://www.emailapp.net/email/link.php?M=188956&N=2874&L=2944&F=H> and click on Nonprofit Job Postings.
It has been my honor and privilege to work with you over the years providing services to those who have served our Country. I consider each of you a personal friend. My heart will always be with Operation Stand Down Tennessee, the staff and the Veterans we serve.
Respectfully,
Bill
