Assistant/Associate Professor Library User Services [Tenure-track]
The University of Tennessee at Martin seeks a collegial and service-oriented professional
to serve in a tenure-track faculty position as Head of User Services Paul Meek Library.
In collaboration with members of the User Services Team, provides leadership and
management of functional areas/services including: customer service; educational
support/media services; research assistance/coaching; information literacy; research
instruction; outreach services; and federal/state information resources.
Participates in strategic planning, including developing new initiatives, setting
priorities, budgeting, and developing policy/procedures for the Paul Meek Library as
leader of the User Services Team.
Participates in and assists the Director of the Library with the coordination of the
library liaison program designed to increase the visibility of library resources/services
across the University; promote research and instructional services; enhance collection
development efforts; and foster communication throughout the academic community
Participates in public service activities and is available on ad hoc basis for point of
service desk duty as assigned by the Library Director
Participates in university and/or library committees and constituent bodies
Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates tenured, tenure-track, and library
Pursues professional development opportunities, including research, publication,
and professional service activities in order to meet University of Tennessee at Martin
criteria for tenure and promotion
Masters degree from an ALA accredited library and information studies program
Four-five years professional academic library experience with evidence of
increasing levels of responsibility and supervisory duties
Ability to provide excellent customer-service and demonstrated ability to
communicate effectively (both written and orally)
