PRIMARY PURPOSE: Design and develop sophisticated internal and external
SharePoint sites using SharePoint 2010, InfoPath, and SharePoint Designer to
support peer review and evaluation projects. Interact with internal and
external customers to assess technology needs and recommend solutions
based on Scientific Assessment and Workforce Development (SAWD)
technology toolset. Develop and deploy basic websites using an established
set of web templates. Work on other technology-related support tasks as-
needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Design and develop SharePoint sites. Work with ORAU Project Managers and
customers; conceive of innovative solutions using SharePoint technologies
(InfoPath, SharePoint Designer, and SharePoint 2010). Design products that
facilitate collaboration between ORAU and customers and provide a distinct,
engaging experience for the users. Interface with customers and staff to solve
problems and add desired functions to existing SharePoint sites. Creating and
modifying SharePoint site collections with multiple sites, unique navigational
elements, custom content types and site columns, site pages, web part
pages, workflows, and permissions.
Evaluate requests for web development from SAWD customers and perform
thorough quality assurance on web sites. Design complex web sites based on
limited information, including features and functionality unique to specific
customer needs. Develop and test web site for use by external customers and
the scientific community. Deploy web sites, monitor functionality.
In a small team environment, serve as back-up for other team members.
Perform a broad variety of technology-based tasks (e.g., archiving, creating
Project Management Plan sites, quality control, and facilitating online
meetings) on an as-needed basis.
Provide expert information, advice and support. Assist the SAWD Tech Team
Section Manager and staff to understand and apply SharePoint and Web
options for solutions. Evaluate emerging capabilities and technologies.
Recommend improvements and new solutions. Develop guides and job aids to
assist staff in performing technology tasks.
Work on special projects and initiatives. Assist the SAWD Tech Team Section
Manager in planning and carrying out technology development/change
initiatives. Work as a member of improvement teams for other technology-
related initiatives.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of one year of
experience. Equivalent combination of job related experience performing duties
as described and education may substitute for the Bachelor's degree. Must
have an understanding of technology solutions for peer and technical review
work processes. Must be able to develop SharePoint and Web sites within the
government contract context. Prefer an understanding ORAU policy and
Department of Energy (DOE) technology regulations. Experience working with
DOE customers and understanding their standards, expectations, and
requirements in preferred. Must have experience in analyzing client
requirements as related by internal customers to identify technology options;
make effective recommendations. Must have experience in effective
communication of complex technical information to both internal customers
and external clients in a way that maximizes the recipients understanding of
the information. Must be an expert in SharePoint design/development, using
SharePoint, SharePoint Designer, and InfoPath. Must have experience with
HTML Web design/development. Must have customer relations and dialog
skills - able to listen and inquire to identify solutions that fit. Must have
analytical skills to evaluate technology options and trade-offs, formulating
unique solutions and improvements. Must have the ability to work
independently and within teams, taking ownership to ensure work is completed
to requirements and on time.
