Director of the Library - effective 7/1/2015
Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, TN, seeks a dedicated and collegial individual to
join an innovative team as director of the library. The director is the chief administrative
officer for library & information services and a member of the faculty; appointment is
tenure-track at the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidate will:
• Formulate and administer all policies, regulations, plans and procedures to fulfill the
mission, goals and objectives of the library.
• Create an environment conducive to high staff morale as well as encouraging
library use by all clientele.
• Ensure compliance with the Southern Association of College & Schools and
Department of Education in all aspects of library programs and services, and in faculty
credentials.
• Develop, organize, and ensure accessibility to all library resources and services.
• Formulate and support the associate director in the administration of personnel
policy and procedures, including assignment of duties, service standards, staff
development, and evaluation.
The Director of the Library must hold the terminal degree in library science from an
American Library Association accredited institution and have a minimum of three years
administrative experience in higher education.
