Be part of the pack…..
Consider joining the newly formed UTK Veterans Student Group (VOLF) VOLFighters. This is an official chapter of the Student Veterans of America National Chapter. The first meeting will be September, 4th at 6:30, they will meet again on September, 18th at 6:30. The Meeting will be held in ROOM 102 on the first floor of the Multicultural Center. See the attached flyer and membership form for more information.
Jayetta Rogers is the staff group advisor. Julie Chun is the current president. Richard Johnson is the Vice President. For general questions or for more information on the student group send an email to [log in to unmask]
For current and new members the Campus Entertainment Board has asked us to set up a booth at the night long event they host on campus each fall. This will give us a chance to promote our group and meet other student veterans. The event is August 22nd from 10PM-2AM. Yes that is late, but is part of Vol Night Long and is a huge event. If we have 4 volunteers that means each volunteer works 1 hour or if we have 8 volunteers we can work ˝ hour each. We need volunteers so if you would like to volunteer please send an email to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>, we also have other service events planned for the fall semester.
Also, I am the group advisor, if you have been in my office you have seen the blackboard with the orange UT logo and student veterans signatures on it. We have one started for VOLF. Anyone who is a member can sign this board. This board will be used at campus events. But the main purpose for starting it was to let members sign it for one year so you can look back and see how much your group has grown. Please come by our office and sign the board when you get a chance. I will have it out front where the work studies are.

*****UTK Welcome Home Dinner***************Dinner for student veterans, please RSVP*****
This was a wonderful event we held on campus last year for the first time. We want to make our second annual dinner special. Please consider coming to this event. It is a FREE dinner on campus for student veterans. It is also a chance to meet other faculty and staff on campus who are also veterans or work with veterans.

The Task Force in Support of Student Veterans would like cordially “Welcome Home” all new and returning student veterans at dinner on August 18th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm in the University Center Hermitage Room. ****Fall 2014 Tuition & Fees*******
Please turn in your fall enrollment form if you haven’t done so already. We will begin submitting tuition and fees to VA for chapter 33 post 9/11 bill students. Remember, we send only your hours first to start stipends as soon as possible. When the bursar releases fee charges we send those to VA as an amendment. We will also begin adding the fee extension to your myutk accounts. This will take some time as we add these to each student. The deadline for payment is August 18th 2014. If you have not made a payment or if you are not on fee extension by the August 18th deadline the bursar WILL DROP YOUR SCHEDULE. You can check to see if the extension is on your account by logging into myutk, click “view/pay fees” and it should show FALL 2014 Veterans Deferment Plan. The fee extensions are not on yet, but we will begin adding them next week. So please check your account by August 14th. If the fee extension is not on by August 14th please call our office at 865-974-1500 or 865-974-1508.
