"Numerical Methods for High-Performance Computers", Heidelberg,
Germany, December 1-3, 2014.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together computer scientists and
mathematicians to provide an overview of the state-of-the-art in
numerical methods for the solution of partial differential equations
and related fields in order to discuss the mutual implications of
expected exascale hardware and these numerical algorithms. There will
be 10 invited presentations as well as contributed talks. More

Starting October 2014 there is an opening for a two year postdoc
position at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Professor
Martin Hanke), with the option of extension. The postdoc will be
collaborating with mathematicians and theoretical chemists in the
project "Inverse Problems in Coarse-Grained Particle Simulations"
within the collaborative research center "Multiscale Simulation
Methods for Soft-Matter Systems". The goal of this project is the
development and implementation of effective potentials for coarse
grained particle simulations.

The applicand should have a PhD in applied mathematics, expertise
in inverse problems theory and/or mathematical physics.

for Mathematical Sciences Applied to Industry (CeMEAI), hosted by the
University of São Paulo, Brazil, and funded by FAPESP (São Paulo
Research Foundation, Brazil) is offering a 2 years Postdoctoral
fellowship for candidates with outstanding research potential.

This position is focused on the development of efficient Monte Carlo
schemes for high dimensional spaces and big industrial and medical
data. The fellow will work under the direction of Professor Francisco
Louzada in the Institute of Mathematical Science and Computing at
University of São Paulo, São Carlos, Brazil.

Applicants must have received, or expect to complete, a doctorate in
Statistics or related discipline within the last 5 years.  Selection
criteria will include demonstrated research ability in Statistics or
related discipline, strong background in statistical inference,
Bayesian methodology and computation, experience with analysis of
high- dimensional datasets, commitment to collaborative research, and
excellent verbal and written communication skills. It is also
desirable that the candidate has previous experience working in
multidisciplinary research group, and has collaborated on research
projects with companies or government institutions.
