Dear Math Undergraduate students,
SPECIAL ATTENTION: a special Junior Colloquium will be presented this
week by Dr. Lonnie Love of ORNL. This talk has flown under the radar
because of scheduling issues, so I want to be sure that everyone knows
about it.
The topic is 3D PRINTING --- if you haven't heard of additive
engineering, you have a treat in store. Dr. Love is group leader of
ORNL's Manufacturing Systems Research Group, one of the world's premier
research centers. Perhaps you saw their articulated robot hand on the
cover of Scientific American last May. Dr. Love is a past Inventor of
the Year, R&D 100 award winner, Micro/Nano Award winner, and holder of
many patents.
Dr. Love is taking time out of his busy schedule to introduce us to this
amazing topic. Mathematics and geometry are at its core, so come and see a
little background before you go out to buy your home 3D printer.
TOMORROW, 3:35, 4th floor, pizza at 3:15
