ART HISTORY AND ART CRITICISM COMPETITION
IN CONJUNCTION WITH
THE 67th ANNUAL STUDENT ART COMPETITION
Juror: Angelo Ho, professor of Art History, George Mason University
Eligibility: Any student currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a valid ID is eligible to enter.
Divisions:
1. Art History Long Paper: A single research paper or a critical essay of 6-25 pages of text.
2. Art History Short Paper(s): A single essay or a collection of essays with the total text of 1-5 pages each. Maximum of 3 short papers per collection.
3. Architectural History Paper(s): A single essay or a collection of essays with the total text not to exceed 20 pages.
PLEASE NOTE: Supplements such as endnotes, bibliographies, and illustrations are not counted as pages of text. Two copies of each paper must be submitted – one signed and one unsigned. The unsigned entry will be submitted to the juror and therefore it must be sufficiently edited as to remove the student’s name, the professor’s name, and the professor’s comments. Previously submitted entries are ineligible.
Receipt of Entries:
DEADLINE: Papers must be submitted to the Ewing Gallery by 3PM on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Papers will be accepted in the Ewing Gallery, 115 Art and Architecture Building, weekdays between 10 AM and 4 PM. Please bring a hard copy of the paper with your name on it. Bring a digital copy of the paper on a jump drive. Papers are submitted digitally to the Juror.
Entry fee is $5.00 per submission. There is a limit of 3 entries per student and 2 entries per category. (Art History entries are separate from the Visual Arts Competition). Each entry is eligible for one award.
Juror to be announced at a later date.
The winning entries will be announced at the Opening Ceremony of the 67th Annual Student Art Competition on Friday, March 7th, 2014 in the Ewing Gallery from 6-9 PM.
