Project ROVER (Returning Our Veterans to Employment and Reintegration) is collecting information from U.S. Veterans via a web-based survey, and is counting on your help to disseminate the survey to U.S. Veterans.

Please share the following information or attached flyer with as many Veterans as possible:

We are requesting that you participate in a 60-minute survey as part of a research study being conducted by West Virginia University and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), which is part of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This web-based survey is being announced to veterans in the United States as part of Project ROVER (Returning Our Veterans to Employment and Reintegration).
The goal of Project ROVER is to evaluate the use of assistance dogs in improving the transition of veterans from military life to civilian life and re-employment.
Your responses will help us better understand the role that animals play in veterans’ lives and how animals might impact veterans’ abilities to cope with psychological disabilities and other stressors associated with social reintegration and return to work. This survey will gather information in the following topic areas:

1.      Deployment history, exposure to traumatic events, past and current pet ownership, status of any physical or psychological disabilities, and level of functioning;

2.      Perceived barriers and facilitators to returning to work;

3. Role and animals and pets in the Veteran’s daily life and in issues related to returning to work.
The survey will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

Please contact Project ROVER at 304-290-1162 or by email at [log in to unmask] if you have questions or concerns about the survey. We will be happy to assist you.

Public reporting burden of this collection of information is estimated to average 60 minutes per response, including the time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information. An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number. Send comments regarding this burden estimate or any other aspect of this collection of information, including suggestions for reducing this burden to CDC/ATSDR Reports Clearance Officer, 1600 Clifton Road NE, MS D74, Atlanta, Georgia 30333; ATTN: PRA (09200985).
