UT's Baker Center Names Greening, of Chattanooga, an Energy Fellow


KNOXVILLE—Lorna Greening, an independent economic consultant and 
researcher based in Chattanooga, Tenn., has been named a fellow in energy 
and environmental policy at the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy at 
the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.


Greening has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry, including 
consulting, research, academia, the public utility industry and the petroleum 
industry as an exploration geologist. Her research interests include energy and 
natural resource economics, greenhouse gas mitigation and regulation policies.


"Dr. Greening will prove to be an important asset to the Baker Center as we 
strive to increase our policy research footprint in the areas of energy and 
environmental policy," Director Matt Murray said.


As part of her appointment, which is not a paid position, Greening will help 
foster interdisciplinary funded research with Baker Center fellows and UT 
faculty. She also will assist with grant writing.


Greening is a co-editor of Energy Policy, an international peer-reviewed journal, 
and associate editor and a member of the board of Energy Economics, one of 
the 50 top-ranked economics journals. She has published in a variety of energy 
publications.


Greening received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a 
doctorate in economics from the Colorado School of Mines. 


The Baker Center's other fellows include David Bjornstad, retired research 
professor of economics and staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Jim 
Campbell, former editor of The Oak Ridger and president of the East Tennessee 
Economic Council; Mary English, retired from UT's Institute for a Secure and 
Sustainable Environment; David Greene, research professor of economics and 
retired corporate fellow at ORNL; Howard Hall, Governor's Chair, professor and 
director of UT's Institute for Nuclear Security; J. Scott Holladay, assistant 
professor of economics; Jacob LaRiviere, assistant professor of economics; 
Michael Price, formerly of UT and now an associate professor of economics at 
the University of Georgia; Brandon Prins, associate professor of political 
science; John Scheb, professor and head of the political science department; 
Robert Shelton, retired research professor of economics and ORNL researcher; 
Charles Sims, assistant professor of economics; Bruce Tonn, professor of 
political science and ORNL researcher; and Christian Vossler, associate 
professor of economics.
