Afternoon everyone.

Just wanted to let you all know that Sewanee has an opening for a
Programmer/Analyst and Functional Support person in our Systems and
Programming department.  For anyone interested, the particulars are below.

Programmer/Analyst
Systems and Programming Department

The University of the South invites applications for a Programmer/Analyst, a
full time position in the Library and Information Technology Services
Department.  The Programmer/Analyst will deliver high quality programming
and customized reports for University Advancement from the Oracle-based
Ellucian Banner system to streamline processes, provide program enhancing
information to customers, and improve internal divisional efficiency.  

The Programmer/Analyst will create and maintain programs and related
procedures/documentation to process data, resolve problems, and ensure data
and system integrity. This position will work closely with users to analyze
and evaluate business needs and propose innovative solutions for the Office
of University Advancement and potentially other administrative areas.
Other major duties of the Programmer/Analyst are to create and maintain high
level reports written in PL/SQL, SQL, or Interactive Reporting to supplement
Advancement's internal EPM report writer, create programming for a variety
of purposes including data transfer to and from Banner and other databases,
the web, and mobile devices, maintain, enhance, and create solutions for
existing software applications and underlying database objects in C, PL/SQL,
Java, and JavaScript and other languages as appropriate including creation
of custom views & tables for reporting efficiencies, manage multiple
projects simultaneously to meet deadlines in a fast paced office
environment, and consult with and advise functional users on
problems/issues.

The Programmer/Analyst will also work individually and with project teams to
evaluate, recommend, implement and integrate hardware and software solutions
to support project requirements, assist Advancement personnel with testing
upgrades and ensuring data and system integrity, maintain up-to-date
knowledge of innovations in information systems technology and business
analytics, identify and develop innovative solutions for new strategic
initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in computer science,
management of information systems, or an equivalent combination of education
and experience.  Five years of relevant experience using SQL, PL/SQL and
relational databases, minimum of two years' experience in supporting
Ellucian's Banner and Advancement module strongly preferred, experience with
report writers and administration of Oracles' EPM11 Workspace strongly
preferred, developing web-based and mobile applications preferred,
experience with Java, Groovy, Grails, Linux/Unix operating systems, and
project management with excellent communication skills.
