Oak Ridge National Lab is launching a new lecture series in Science, Technology
and Policy. The first speaker is 2007 Nobel Laureate in Physics, Dr. Albert Fert.
He will speak in Oak Ridge with a live webcast to the Toyota Auditorium, Baker
Center.
Dr. Fert will speak at 10 am on "Novel Directions for Spintronics: Spin-orbitronics
and Skyrmions."
Dr. Fert is the scientific director of the Unite Mixte de Physique CNRS/Thales, a
member of the French Academy of Sciences, with research focuses in metals,
magnetism, magnet structures, and spin electronics. His discovery of the giant
magnetoresistence earned the Nobel Prize and launched the field of spintronics,
revolutionizing the electronics industry.
