Suzanne et al., Different institutions place different values on formal 
student evaluations submitted at the close of a semester.  At my 
institution, one class average evaluation below a 3.0 (out of 5.0) over a 
school year has a negative impact on the annual review, regardless of the 
reasons.  Student evaluations also influence the tenure decision.  Joyce
