The Art & Design Librarian reports to the Head, Reference and Collection Development Services for reference and library instruction duties and to the Collection Development Services Coordinator for collection development and faculty liaison responsibilities.
Summary of Duties:
35% Serves as a selector and liaison for the College of Art & Design (includes the School of Architecture, School of Art, Interior Design, and the School of Landscape Architecture), providing outreach, instruction, and specialized reference services to faculty and students in those disciplines; develops discipline-specific subject guides, instructional and other materials as needed; works with faculty in the College to embed information literacy in the curriculum; participates in liaison group activities.
35% Provides library instruction either in the Libraries' credit course or the Residential Colleges; develops instructional materials; teaches general one-shot and subject-specific classes; serves as a member of the Reference Department's Instruction Committee.
15% Works to meet promotion and tenure requirements for research and service.
10% Provides general and specialized Reference and information services at the reference desk (may work nights and weekends in rotation).
05% Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
Masters degree from an ALA-accredited program; evidence of potential to meet research and service requirements for promotion and tenure requirements; experience providing reference services and library instruction; excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; demonstrated knowledge and experience in creating and using online library instructional materials.
Preferred:
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Architecture, or related field; basic knowledge of materials, techniques, and terminology employed in the fields of art, architecture, and design; strong public service orientation; experience in providing reference service in an academic environment.
