STUDENT ADVISOR POSITIONS
Arts and Sciences Advising Services
(beginning Summer 2013 or Fall 2013)
PAY RATE: $8 per hour
The student advisor position in Arts and Sciences Advising Services is a multifaceted employment opportunity. Working alongside professional administrators and well-trained support staff, student advisors are exposed to the entire operation of a large university advising center. As a result, skills and competencies in areas such as human relations, teaching, and communication are fostered and strengthened. As a result of their training, student advisors develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire university system with respect to academic curricula, administrative policy, and graduation requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
** Currently pursuing a declared B.A. or B.S. major in the College of Arts and Sciences
** Grade Point Average of at least 3.0
** Available for 7- 10 hours per week for an academic year (fall 2013 through spring 2014)
** Junior standing by fall 2013 (at least 60 hours) – Preference given to students in their second or third year of college attendance
** Ability to communicate with diverse populations
** Available for training the week of May 28 -31
