--- The spring semester is underway, and with it, a new semester of recycling at UT. The program provides services to all classroom buildings and residence halls on campus, and collects paper, aluminum cans, and plastic, as well as compostable and other materials. UT Recycling provides free recycling bins to areas all over campus, and every resident in a residence hall room should have their own recycling bin.

Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy will be hosting a student involvement fair from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, in the Toyota Auditorium for students interested in public policy, politics, governance, law, and current issues. --- Are you interested in social or environmental issues? Come to the sustainability social at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, in the University Center, Room 211, and mingle with UT clubs and organizations concerned with sustainable development. --- Why is reforming our health care system so difficult and contentious? David Mirvis, adjunct professor of public health, has some insight. 
The professor, investigator, and analyst will speak about the adoption of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, in the College of Nursing Room 201. 
He will also have a dialogue with students from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, entitled “Health Policy: Why It Matters to Get Involved”  in

--- Central Programming Council's Issues Committee is proud to host Chris Hedges, weekly columnist for Truthdig and author of “Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt” and “Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle.” Hedges received a Pulitzer Prize for his contributions to the New York Times team covering global terrorism and also authored a call to arms for “The Occupied Wall Street Journal,” the paper written for the Occupy Wall Street protesters. --- Lambda Student Union, UT's LGBTQ social and educational programming organization, would like to welcome students back with a "Double Rainbow Spring Awakening" social event from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 25, in the Wesley Foundation Theater (across from Hess Hall). --- The Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization at UT will host a Kick-Off Party at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, in Haslam Business Building, Room 102. Free food and drinks catered by Buddy's Bar-B-Q will be provided. The meeting will introduce potential members to the organization, its mission, and the world of entrepreneurship. Professor Tom Graves of the UT Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation will speak and answer questions.

--- Are you interested in learning how to garden and access free produce? If so, check out Project VEGGIE. Project VEGGIE stands for Vols Educating about Growing Gardens and Inspiring Environmentalism. Their garden is located between Andy Holt parking garage and Dr. Robert L. Barksdale Tennis Stadium (intercollegiate tennis courts). They will hold interest meetings at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, Wednesday, January 23, and Thursday, January 24, in the Apartment Residence Hall first floor multipurpose room. Questions? --- Calling all coaches! Make a difference in a girl's life by being a coach for Girls on the Run for the spring semester. Girls on the Run is a nonprofit program for girls 3rd through 8th grade with a mission to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
