Good News

--- For the first time ever, UT Knoxville's competitive ballroom dancing team competed at the Ohio Star Ball Collegiate National Competition. Eighteen UT competitors and spectators attended, competing in newcomer, bronze, and silver levels of Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Samba, Swing, and Mambo. Mark Your Calendar

--- The UT Cinema Club will be showing Paul Verhoeven's 1987 action film "RoboCop" at 7 p.m. today in Hodges Library Auditorium. Free and open to the public.

--- OUTreach, UT's LGBT & Ally Resource Center in F-103 Melrose Hall, will be open on exam days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for quiet individual and group study. There will be hot chocolate, hot tea, sodas, and snacks compliments of the Chancellor's Commission for LGBT People and the OUTreach Center. All LGBTQQIA students and allies are welcome. Questions? Opportunities

--- Attention artists: The UT Libraries want to display your work. The Student Art in the Library contest awards a first prize of $300, a second prize of $150, and a third prize of $75. The submission deadline for the Spring 2013 contest is Feb. 10. If you create any particularly inspired works over the holiday break, keep the contest in mind. The libraries are looking for two-dimensional works to be displayed in the exhibit area in 135 Hodges Library throughout the spring semester.

Important Deadlines

--- The deadline for Spring 2013 fee payment and confirmation of attendance is 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013. You can pay fees and confirm attendance at the Bursar's Office, 211 Student Services Building, or on MyUTK.utk.edu.

--- Take advantage of winter break to write up your research and get published. Pursuit, the Journal of Undergraduate Research at UT, has extended its deadline to January 9. Pursuit is dedicated to publishing the work of UT undergraduates and is supported by the Office of Research and the Chancellor's Honors Program.
