--- Parking spaces along Phillip Fulmer Way between Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena have been converted from metered parking to commuter student parking. This change has resulted in an overall increase in commuter parking for students.

--- The Issues Committee and Central Program Council invite you to an evening with zookeeper Jack Hanna and some of his animal friends as he shares recollections of his life and career. The event will be held on Monday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. in AMB Cox Auditorium. Hanna and his animals have been featured on Good Morning America, the David Letterman Show, Larry King Live, and many more national media outlets. --- The It's Not About Me Foundation (iNAM) will have a general meeting Monday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Hodges Library room 252. iNAM is in the pursuit of working with local non-profit organizations, as well as volunteering with other student organizations on campus with their events.

--- SPEAK, Students Promoting Environmental Action in Knoxville, meeting at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27 in UC room 226. If you're interested in saving the environment, promoting green policies on campus, or even volunteering at local schools/areas in encouraging environmentally friendly actions, then stop by SPEAK.

--- Interested in spending a semester studying business, language, or communication in another country while paying the same tuition you pay at UT? Come to a brief study abroad info session led by students on Tuesday, February 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the International House.

--- Author and professor Jeff Sharlet will discuss the intersection of religion and politics in America at the second annual David L. Dungan Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. in AMB Cox Auditorium. Sharlet's lecture is titled "The Noise of Democracy: Faith, Faithlessness, and the Country In Between," and is presented by UT's Department of Religious Studies. After the presentation, Sharlet will participate in a question-and-answer session, and a reception and book signing will follow. Both events are free and open to the public.

--- "Leaping Forward in Communication and Information Research" is the theme of the College of Communication and Information's thirty-fourth annual Research Symposium on February 29. Deanna Sellnow and Brandi Frisby of the University of Kentucky will deliver the keynote address. They will speak on "Leaping Forward in Crisis Communication Research: Connecting with Audiences in a Rapidly Evolving Information Environment." The symposium will be held in the college auditorium (321 Communications), with the poster session located in the foyer outside the auditorium. All events during the symposium are free and open to the public.

--- UT's Safety, Environment, and Education (SEE) Center will host "21 Days to Make a Good Habit," a health fair showcasing ways for students to make healthy lifestyle changes. The fair will be from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 29 in the UC Ballroom. The goal of the event is to promote strategies for students to improve academic success by adopting healthy habits regarding study skills, time management, stress management, sleep, nutrition, exercise, hygiene and taking care of their body. Nearly 30 organizations will be represented at the fair, including the UT College of Nursing promoting skin cancer awareness, Rec Sports showcasing wellness and activity programs, a variety of food and drink vendors offering healthy snack options and UT Federal Credit Union promoting financial wellness. The fair is sponsored by the SEE Center and the Central Program Council.


--- The Advertising Club will be hosting Brad Jacobus, Marketing Manager of Ruby Tuesday and UT Alum, on Wednesday, February 29 at 5:00 p.m. in the Scripps Lab Auditorium in the Communications Building room 402E. Expect your mind to be filled with helpful information from a young professional in the communications industry.

--- Landing the job is more than just the resume or the degree; it is about looking the part as well. This year, Career Services is holding a Dress for Success Fashion Show for students to learn how to dress appropriately for all career-related activities. This will include how to dress for an interview, the difference between business casual and business professional, as well as what NOT to wear in the business environment. The event will feature two special emcees and door prizes throughout the event. The fashion show will be a free event held on Wednesday, February 29 at 7:00p.m. in the UC Auditorium. Also, Delta Sigma Pi will be sponsoring a clothing drive for the Salvation Army. Donations may be made both at the entrance of the Fashion Show and at Career Services.

--- The 2012 Relay For Life at UT is scheduled for Friday, April 13 at Circle Park. All money raised goes to support the American Cancer Society. Are you interested in joining or forming a team? --- The fifth annual Southeast German Studies Workshop will be held Thursday, March 1 to Friday, March 2 in the John C. Hodges Library at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The keynote lecture on Thursday, March 1 at 3:15 p.m. is free and open to the public. It will feature Alon Confino, professor of History at the University of Virginia, whose lecture is titled "Why did the Nazis Burn the Hebrew Bible? --- The Women's Coordinating Council presents the spoken word poetry of Gabriela Garcia Medina at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 in the UC Auditorium. Gabriela Garcia Medina is an international spoken word poet. Medina relies on her Cuban heritage to cross multicultural boundaries, having performed in South Africa, Brazil, Switzerland, as well as all over the United States. Medina’s topics of focus include social justice, global issues, and the everyday struggles to which women can universally relate.


--- What did it mean to read or write a book in the Middle Ages or the Renaissance? This question is at the heart of "Grounding the Book: Readers, Writers, and Places in the Pre-Modern World," a symposium to be hosted on March 1 to 3 by the Marco Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at UT. Anthony Grafton, the Henry Putnam Professor of History at Princeton University, will give the keynote address, "Reading Across Borders in Renaissance Europe," at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 1 in the Hodges Library Auditorium. --- The UT Downtown Gallery will present In Action, the work of Michigan-based artist Mark Newport, from March 2 through March 31. The exhibit consists of hand-knitted acrylic yarn recreations of hero costumes, prints of the artist in costume, and carved, costumed figure sculptures. The costumes are life size, wearable objects that hang limply on hangers. They challenge the standard muscular form of the hero and offer the space for someone to imagine himself or herself wearing the costume, therefore becoming the hero. Newport will give a lecture at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, in the Art and Architecture Building, Room 109. A 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. reception will be held Friday, March 2, at the downtown gallery as part of First Friday festivities. For more information, visit http://web.utk.edu/~downtown/.

--- Nourish International meeting, Thursday, March 1, at 7:00 p.m. in HSS room 203. The mission of Nourish International is to eradicate poverty by engaging students and empowering communities.

--- The Black Student Law Association (BLSA) Pre-Law Division will hold their next general body meeting on Thursday, March 1 at 8:00 p.m. in the UC room 237. The meeting will discuss information about the upcoming law schools tour, Community Outreach, the Women Empowerment Program and internship opportunities.

--- The UT Science Forum presents Dawnie Wolfe Steadman, professor of anthropology and director of the UT Forensic Anthropology Center. Steadman will speak on "Forensic Anthropology Goes Global: The Identification of Disappeared Persons" on Friday, March 2, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. The Science Forum is free and open to the public. --- The College of Communication and Information will hold its annual Experience Diversity Banquet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, at the Bearden Banquet Hall, 5806 Kingston Pike, in Knoxville. The keynote speaker is Avon W. Rollins Sr., director and CEO of the Beck Cultural Exchange Center in Knoxville, and president and CEO of Rollins & Associates, a management consulting firm.

--- The UT Graduate Student Senate will host its 20th annual Love Your Libraries 5K Race to benefit the UT Libraries on Saturday, March 3 at 9:00 a.m. in Circle Park. Show your love for the UT Libraries. Entry form at www.lib.utk.edu/5k.

--- The Competitive Ballroom Team at UT is hosting its annual spring fundraiser on Saturday, March 3, at 7:00 p.m. at Academy Ballroom (4451 Kingston Pike). It will be a '20s themed dance party fundraiser, so costumes are highly encouraged. There will be an hour-long group Cha Cha class starting at 7:00 p.m. followed by an open dance party and team performances. --- Do you think you and your friends are good at dodgeball? The Relay for Life Dodgeball Tournament will be held on Sunday, March 4 from noon to 3:00 p.m. in HPER. The registration cost is $60 for a team of six players. Lunch will be provided and prizes will be awarded to winners! All proceeds will go to benefit the American Cancer Society. --- The second annual Date Auction presented by Gamma Sigma Sigma and the TeamVOLS Leadership Board will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, in the Black Cultural Center Multipurpose Room. The Date Auction benefits the American Heart Association and all are welcome to attend. All students are encouraged to volunteer to be auctioned off to help benefit the American Heart Association. --- All Campus Events wants you! All Campus Events coordinates campus-wide events that have become long-standing UT traditions, including Vol Challenge, Homecoming, All-Sing and Carnicus. --- The Parents Association is looking for student volunteers. As a part of Orange & White Weekend, the Parents Association will be hosting Spring Family Day on Saturday, April 21. The association is searching for student volunteers that have a skill or talent in an artistic field such as face painting, drawing, sketches, etc. This is a great opportunity for students to boost their resume by volunteering for this event. Important Deadlines

--- The Dean of Students Office is accepting applications for several scholarships which are available for undergraduate students based on campus leadership and campus and community service. Students may apply for these scholarships themselves or may be recommended by another member of the community. The application deadline is Wednesday, March 7. --- The College of Business Administration's annual undergraduate business plan competition is underway. Open to any undergraduate on the Knoxville campus, the competition awards $20,000 in prize money and professional accounting services. The concept statement should describe the problem or opportunity you've identified; how your product or service addresses the opportunity or solves the problem; why you have a competitive advantage; and how you will make money. Make Orange Green

--- Have you ever wanted to know where all your trash and recyclables end up? Students are invited to jump on the Make Orange Green bus and join UT Recycling for a tour of the Chestnut Ridge Landfill and Rock-Tenn Recycling Center. The tour is scheduled for March 5, noon to 4 p.m. The bus leaves from outside the Hodges Library second-floor entrance at noon and will return at 4 p.m. The tour is a free event, but interested people must reserve a seat on the bus in advance. --- Interested in the hard-hitting, fast paced action of rugby? Support your Women’s Rugby Club by attending their game versus the Ohio State Buckeyes. This is their third game of the season.
