Next week we will have three lectures of interest to you:
* Oct. 24, 7:30 pm, McClung Museum: Father Justin Sinaitis, librarian of St. Catherine's monastery in the Sinai desert, Egypt, will talk about "“We Knew Not Whether We Were in Heaven or on Earth” – the Heritage of Russian Iconography.” This lecture is held by the McClung Museum in conjunction with its temporary exhibit of Russian icons. Father Justin's visit to UT and the digitization project of St. Catherine's priceless manuscripts is co-sponsored by the McClung Museum, UT's departments of Art History (Dale Cleaver Fund), Classics (Haines Morris fund), Architecture, Religious Studies, the Marco Institute of Medieval and Renaissance Studies, and Hodges Library.
* Oct. 27, 2:10 pm, HSS 203: Jean Turfa, University Museum, University of Pennsylvania, will talk about "Love and Death in Etruscan Urns."
* Oct. 27, 7:30 pm, McClung Museum: Jean Turfa, "New Approaches to the Ancient Etruscans. How Archaeological Research is Changing our Picture of Rome's Nemesis." 5th Harry C. Rutledge Memorial Lecture in Archaeology. Dr. Turfa's visit to UT is sponsored by the McClung Museum and the East Tennessee Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (see attached flyer).
