Since September 11, 2001, over 6200 soldiers have made the ultimate sacrafice for our country. On November 11th, the Veterans at UTK student organization sponsored by the Taskforce in Support of Student Veterans will join with over 140 other colleges and universities across the United States to hold a National Day of Remembrance Roll Call and Minute of Silence. The event will be held in Circle Park and will begin at 8:00am with opening remarks from LTC Danny Kelley from the ROTC department here at UT. The reading of the 6200+ names will begin shortly after. At 1:45 there will be a guest speaker who will lead us into the nationwide minute of silence at 2:00. Taps & bagpipes will follow the minute of silence. The reading of names will continue until all names have been read which should be around 4:00. We still need volunteers to read names. There will be two readers every 15 minutes which will equal about 100 names per person. Please let me know if you would like to read names with two possible time slots for 15 min increments, i.e. 10:15, 10:30, 10:45, etc. If there is a particular name you would like to read we will try to accommodate your request. I need all volunteers names & time preferences by this Friday. I will send everyone their list of names to be read this weekend.
The poster that has been created for this event is attached. Feel free to distribute them!
