--- Vote for Team Living Light! Help UT's team win the Department of Energy's 2011 Solar Decathlon, taking place now in Washington D.C., by voting for them in the People's Choice category. Our students have assembled their state-of-the-art house on the Mall in Washington, and they face tough competition from Ohio State, Purdue, the University of Illinois, and groups representing universities in Florida, New Zealand, China, Belgium, and Canada. Online voting is open until 7:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at http://www.solardecathlon.gov.

--- South Korean Film Night, 6:30 p.m. tonight at the I-House, with a screening of "My Father," in Korean with English subtitles. Free and open to the public. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

--- CC Morris, a producer from Learning Ally, formerly Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, will be on campus from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 and Wednesday, Sept. 28 to train anyone who would like to volunteer to help record audio textbooks. --- The Public Relations Student Society of America and AdClub will hold a joint LinkedIn workshop at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the Communications Building room 321. Guest speaker, Gavin Baker, Director of Digital Media at Moxley Carmichael, a leading public relations firm in Knoxville, will discuss the benefits of creating and maintaining a profile on LinkedIn and how to connect with professionals and prospective employers on the website. --- UT Knoxville wants to help budding entrepreneurs turn their business idea into reality. Starting Oct. 4, UT's Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the College of Business Administration will offer students, faculty and the community the chance to learn from entrepreneurs, financiers and business experts about what it takes to start a business. "Vol Court" is a seven-part weekly series that runs through Nov. 15. Sessions will be held Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m. in Room 701 of the Stokely Management Center.

--- As part of National Preparedness Month, UT students are encouraged to take a free training course on what to do during a disaster. Students who complete the online training will receive a Starbuck's discount coupon from UT Dining.

To access the training,

* Go the Blackboard home page at http://blackboard.utk.edu. 
* Log in using your NetID and password. First time users may experience difficulty connecting. This can be quickly fixed by calling the help desk at 974-9900.
* Click on the Emergency Preparedness tab and follow the instructions.

--- Have you heard of Emerging Leaders? The Emerging Leaders Class is a three credit-hour course taught every spring for sophomores and juniors interested in studying leadership theories, styles, and practices. The class also participates in an exchange trip where students visit peer institutions in another city in order to learn more about leadership programs and organizations on those campuses. The Office of Student Orientation & Leadership Development (SOLD) is now accepting applications for our 2012 Emerging Leaders class. The deadline is Sept. 28. Questions? --- The Cultural Attractions Committee is now accepting applications for membership. Ready for the World Events

--- Tomorrow, foodies can enjoy French cuisine without leaving campus. The Ready for the World Café opens for business September 27 as a weekly, full-service, fine-dining experience with international themes. It will operate in the UT Visitors Center, 2712 Neyland Drive.

Lunch will be served from noon to 1:00 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance and capacity is fifty to sixty diners. Cost is $12. To purchase tickets, see Marcia in 110 Jessie Harris Building, or call 865-974-6645.

The French luncheon menu is:

Appetizer: Roulées de bacon grillé figues (grilled bacon-wrapped figs); 

Salad: Salade d’endives, noix et Roquefort (endive salad with walnuts and Roquefort style cheese); 

Entrée: Saumon au four à la moutarde croûte (baked salmon with mustard crumb-crust) with pilaf de riz sauvage aux champignons (wild rice and mushroom pilaf) and asperges à la crème à l’estragon (asparagus with tarragon cream sauce); and

Dessert: Mousse au chocolat (chocolate mousse).

--- I-House Korean cooking demonstration, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the I-House Great Room. Learn how to cook Korean food while learning more about Korean culture. A native Korean student will demonstrate how to cook traditional Korean food. Questions? Call 974-4453.

--- Korean Culture Night, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 in the Great Room at the International House. There will be many musical and dance performances, a live Taekwondo performance, an authentic Korean meal, and much more. --- Redeeming Hope Ministries and the UT Haslam Scholars Program have paired to put on a 5K run/walk with a 1 mile fun run at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. The event, supporting Redeeming Hope Ministries, will start and end at Circle Park. The price before race day is $15 for students, $17 for adults; the price will increase on the day of the race.
