Special
--- Welcome to Campus
Welcome to UT Knoxville for the 2011-2012 academic year! For some of you, this is a “welcome back,” but for many, this will be your first semester on campus. The start of the school year is the busiest time on campus—settling in to your residence hall room or apartment, finding your classes, buying books, catching up with old and new friends. But one of the most exciting parts of arriving on campus—whether it’s your first time, or you’re a seasoned veteran – is taking part in the many traditions that make you a Volunteer.
These traditions are a big part of what makes Welcome Week so exciting. For a full schedule of Welcome Week events, visit http://welcomeweek.utk.edu.
--- Move-in Day
Move-in day is this Saturday, and it's sure to be an exciting and hectic day for our new and returning students. With a little planning, your move-in day can go smoothly. Residence hall check-in begins Saturday at 8:00 a.m. for women and 2:00 p.m. for men. Students with questions should visit the University Housing website at http://uthousing.utk.edu.
University staff will be on hand to answer questions for students and families. Volunteers from the community also will be available to help unload cars. Students moving in to the residence halls can utilize temporary parking areas around each hall on Saturday and Sunday. For directions to your residence hall visit http://welcomeweek.utk.edu/directions.php.

--- Construction on Campus
Use caution while driving on campus and in surrounding areas. In addition to increased foot and motor traffic as families move their students in to residence halls, ongoing construction and improvement projects have affected areas of campus.
Motorists approaching campus on Neyland Drive from downtown Knoxville will see reduced speeds and adjusted lanes as work continues on the Henley Street Bridge. For more information on construction and improvement projects, visit http://www.utk.edu/tntoday/2011/08/12/campus-progress. For help finding campus buildings, visit http://www.utk.edu/maps.
