Have you ever wondered why it's so hard to find what you're looking for on certain websites? Or why your bank's ATM machine forces you to make a dozen selections just to withdraw your own money?
In very simple terms, those confusing websites and your bank's ATM suffer from a lack of attention to the needs of the user - namely, you. That's where "user experience design," or UXD, is essential. UXD deals with how people interact with technology in their everyday lives - and helps to ensure that the interactions are satisfactory and allow the user to accomplish whatever she or he is trying to accomplish. So whether it's a website or the self-checkout at a grocery store or a mobile phone - if the user doesn't have a good experience, s/he isn't going to be happy and isn't going to do business with that company.
As the world's information environment becomes increasingly complex, the need for good UXD professionals becomes increasingly important. Join Dr. David Robins for a virtual open house to find out more about what UXD is, what kinds of job opportunities are available for UXD professionals, and what it takes to be successful in the field. You'll also hear from a graduate of Kent State's UXD program, Jason Richardson, a User Experience Designer at Medical Mutual of Ohio.
All the best,
Flo
