Dear Math Honors Students,
Sorry to have been so long to let you know about scholarship amounts. This
year it is a bit tricky because it is the last year of the grant. So I
have to be careful to not offer too much, but at the same time I need to
use all of the remaining grant funding. I have also just finished the
proposal for what I hope will be another 5 years of funding, which has
required quite a bit of time in the last month.
What I can promise now is scholarships of at least $3000 for next year,
with $4000 being more likely. So I will be processing paperwork for $2000
scholarships for the fall semester. To help with your financial planning,
you may expect scholarships between $1000 and $2500 for the spring
semester. I can't be more definite about spring until January, since I
need to know exactly how many students we will have then, and basically
divide up the remaining budget. I have some rebudgeting paperwork to get
through the research office, so you shouldn't expect to see the $2000
credit to your account for 2-3 weeks.
Let me know if you have any questions....
