Special

--- Editor's Note: This is the final edition of student@tennessee for the spring. Good luck to all our graduates, and if you're coming back in the fall, keep reading student@tennessee to stay up to date on campus events, good news items about your fellow students, and great ways to stay connected to the campus and the Knoxville community. Have a great summer!

--- UT Knoxville and the UT Athletics Department are teaming up to show their Volunteer spirit by helping the residents of ten East Tennessee counties affected by the recent storms. From 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, UT students and staff will be collecting items at the Regal Soccer Stadium on Stephenson Drive, on the south side of UT's campus, off Neyland Drive. UT has challenged the campus and surrounding community to fill an 18-wheeler with donations. Requested items include: household cleaning supplies, bottled water, new underwear, infant supplies such as formula, diapers, and baby wipes, towels and washcloths, toiletries – preferably in trial sizes, batteries, flashlights, tarps and duct tape.

Good News

--- UT Knoxville continues to be among the top universities in providing wireless Internet service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. In the early 2000s, UT Knoxville led the national charge to make wireless access available across campus. And just a few years ago, UT Knoxville was the first US university to participate in eduroam, a secure, worldwide roaming Internet access service developed for the international research and education community. The university continues to play a vital role in the consortium’s success, hosting the hardware infrastructure that supports all of eduroam's Internet traffic in the U.S.
