Dear Dr. Frazier -
On February 2, 2011, we sent you information (below) about our GSKyTeach

majors in Math, Physics or Chemistry. We have received applications from
a significant number of institutions and we thank you for your help. We
really would like to have five to ten more applicants and we have
*extended the deadline for applications until March 31.*
If you know of any graduating seniors who missed the March 15 deadline
but expressed an interest in GSKyTeach, please inform them of the
extended deadline.
Thank you again for your help,

*Subject:* Exciting Career Opportunity for Seniors and Recent Graduates
Dear Dr. Frazier-
Western Kentucky University has been awarded a $5.4 million dollar grant
over five years to prepare Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics teachers
for high schools in Louisville, Kentucky. The program, called GSKyTeach,
is recruiting graduating seniors or recent graduates with majors in the
above three disciplines but with no teacher preparation. The program
will pay trainees $30,000 plus benefits during the year of preparation
and all tuition costs to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. At
the end of one year of preparation, the graduates will be employed by
the Jefferson County Public School system at a minimum starting salary
of at least $42,500. GSKyTeach is an exciting new program - very
different from traditional teacher preparation. If you know of any
seniors or recent graduates for whom this program might work, it is a
tremendous career opportunity. Attached is a copy of our program brochure.
Please feel free to visit our website at
http://edtech.wku.edu/gskyteachfor more information about the program
and an online application form. The deadline for application submission
is March 15, 2011.
We greatly appreciate your help in providing information about the
opportunities of GSKyTeach to seniors or recent graduates in your
program. I will be calling you within the next week to inquire if you
have any graduating seniors that we can contact directly about GSKyTeach.
Sincerely,
Roger Pankratz, Ph.D.
