INVOLVE-ING
"Undergraduate mathematicians are also conducting research--some of this
work extends beyond contributions in theoretical mathematics to applications
in business, engineering, computer science, biology, physics, and
economics," says an article about Kenneth Berenhaut and the journal he
launched, Involve--a Journal of Mathematics. The journal publishes
high-quality research articles co-authored by students and faculty.
Submissions in all areas of mathematics are considered, but the papers must
include a minimum of one-third student authorship. Read more about Berenhaut
and the journal at

AMS EPSILON FUND MAKES 2011 AWARDS
A lifelong passion for mathematics grows from youthful enthusiasm. For many,
that enthusiasm is nurtured in a summer program for talented, enthusiastic
high school students. The AMS has chosen the following 10 summer mathematics
programs to receive Epsilon grants for 2011:
*All Girls/All Math, University of Nebraska, Lincoln
*Canada/USA Mathcamp, Reed College
*Lamar Achievement in Mathematics Program (LAMP), Lamar University
*MathPath, Colorado College
*PROMYS, Boston University
*PROTaSM (Puerto Rico Opportunities for Talented Students in Mathematics),
University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez
*Research Science Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
*Ross Mathematics Program, Ohio State University
*Texas State Honors Summer Math Camp, Texas State University, San Marcos
*Young Scholars Program, University of Chicago.
