Newsletter for UT Knoxville Students

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special

--- This is Faculty Appreciation Week, a time to celebrate faculty and their teaching, research and outreach. Their work is a big part of what makes UT Knoxville the great university it is.

Today we kick off a series of special stories about faculty on the Tennessee Today website, http://www.utk.edu/tntoday/. College deans and administrators suggested faculty members for the "College Kudo" features. The "Thanks, Faculty" features are based on suggestions we received from students, alumni, and other faculty and staff.

You can see all of the Faculty Appreciation Week stories at http://www.utk.edu/tntoday/tag/faculty-appreciation-week-2011/.

Also this week, visit the Faculty "shout out" page to send your own thank you message to a favorite faculty member or read what others have written: http://www.utk.edu/faculty/appreciation/shout-out/.

--- Message from the Chancellor: It's important for us to know more about your UT experience. A survey called the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) helps us gauge how we're doing in just about every area affecting students. This week, all freshmen and seniors will receive the NSSE survey. Please be on the lookout for an e-mail from me asking you to take the survey and take a few moments to tell us your thoughts.

--- Proving that its students are among the best in the country, a UT Knoxville College of Law moot court team placed second in the nation in the 61st annual Moot Court Competition at the New York City Bar Association two weeks ago.

The student team, consisting of Amy Rao Mohan, G. William Perry and J. David Watkins, was coached by Professors Joseph Cook and John Sobieski.

Mohan also was runner-up as Best Oralist in the four-day competition that included 28 teams from 14 regions across the country.

"We have great students, a very committed and involved faculty and a terrific moot court program at the UT College of Law," said Dean Douglas A. Blaze. "This achievement represents what can happen when all those things intersect. We are all very proud of Professors Cook and Sobieski and the team members for the hard work they all put into this competition."
