--- Reminder: UT students, faculty and staff will commemorate the 50th anniversary of African-American undergraduates at UT Knoxville with a march tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at the Torchbearer statue. The march to the UC Auditorium will be followed by a celebration with special guest, Olympian and UT alumna, Benita Fitzgerald Mosley. --- All Campus Events presents All Sing, a UT tradition for more than 75 years, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium. This year's theme is "All Sing: GLEE Addition." The competition includes 13 student organizations performing songs from "South Pacific," "Burlesque," "The Lion King," "Sister Act," "Guys and Dolls" and hits from Queen and Lady Gaga. Tickets for the Saturday night event are $10 for UT students, $13 for UT faculty/staff and $15 for the general public. --- Are you interested in horses, have ridden your whole life, or want to learn? The Equestrian Club has both a recreational and a competitive program. Recreational riders take trail rides through the mountains each week while improving their riding. --- The Tennessee Collegiate Horsemen's Association is looking for students that are interested in horses or the equine industry. The club promotes leadership, service, and education in the equine world and welcomes all disciplines, levels and interests. ACE organizes four campus events each year: Homecoming, Vol Challenge, All Sing and Carnicus, representing some of the longest standing traditions at the University of Tennessee. --- The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is currently accepting applications for the VolCorps Program for the 2011-2012 school year. Within the VolCorps Program, there are three divisions -- Volunteer Team (work with prospective student-athletes), UT Ambassadors (work with the UT Visitors Center and conduct campus tours), and ME4UT Team (work with all weekend diversity recruitment programs). If you are interested in learning more about these programs, come to one of the information sessions on Jan. 31 or Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. in Hodges Library Auditorium. --- If you are a current transfer student and want to be involved in the transfer orientation program, Student Orientation and Leadership Development (SOLD) is recruiting transfer students with at least one semester of credit at UT (and a 2.5 GPA) to serve as Transfer Orientation Assistants (TOA). TOAs will work with the transfer orientation sessions and serve as a resource for incoming transfers. Important Deadlines

--- The deadline for applications to the Congressional Internship Program has been extended to Friday, Feb. 4. The Congressional Internship Program provides students in good standing the opportunity to work with Tennessee legislators in Washington, D.C., for approximately six weeks during the months of May and June. --- Teach for America's final application deadline is this Friday, Feb. 4. Only one in ten children growing up in low-income communities will graduate from college. Teach for America is working to change this and to provide children across the United States with an excellent education. Graduating seniors can apply online for the 2011 corps by this Friday at http://www.teachforamerica.org/.

--- The Carl Cowan Scholarship Fund, available to both undergraduate and graduate students, was made possible through initial donations and recurring contributions from individuals and businesses. It was established after black students and faculty members in the early 1970's sought to identify additional funding sources for black students. The endowment was originally named the Minority Scholarship and Assistance Fund. In 1983, the name of the endowment was changed to the Carl Cowan Scholarship Endowment Fund. Four scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded for the 2011-2012 academic year. The funds will be dispersed in increments of $500 at the beginning of the fall and spring terms to each recipient. Ready for the World Events

--- The Spring 2011 Ready for the World Passports have arrived and are ready for distribution. The Passport is a calendar and guide to many of the international and intercultural events taking place on campus and in the community through the end of the academic year. Please indicate the number of Passports you'd like and where they can be sent via campus mail.

--- The Tsinghua English Summer Camp is a three week summer teaching and volunteer opportunity at the Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Teachers and student volunteers from across the U.S. are invited to attend and/or teach, and UT Knoxville is ready to select its participants for this year. Information sessions will be held on the following dates in the Programs Abroad Resource Room at Melrose Hall: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, and 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10. --- "Islam 101: Steps toward understanding basic tenets of Islam," 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, in the UC Shiloh Room. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

--- The Ready for the World Café, an international buffet operated by students in the advanced food production and service management class, opens for the semester on Feb. 7 and will run through April 21. The café will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the Hermitage Room on the third floor of the University Center. Diners will pay $11 for the all-you-can-eat buffet or $9 for a plate of food to carry out.
