Biological Field Technician Needed
Job Description: Field assistant sought for an ongoing study of native warm-season grasslands for cattle forage (hay and grazing) and wildlife. The field sites are located on Research and Education Centers across Tennessee. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience in many of the field techniques used in vegetation sampling for wildlife and agronomy and have the opportunity to work and interact with graduate students conducting research at these sites.
Date: The start and end dates of this job are flexible, but are expected to start early May and end mid-August 2011.
Salary: approx. $1,200/month; housing provided while traveling. However, housing in Knoxville is not provided.
Qualifications: Field work and data collection for the project will involve surveying vegetation throughout much of Tennessee requiring considerable time spent in the field with transportation between field sites provided. Successful applicant will be highly motivated, with a strong work ethic, a passion for field work, and the ability to work in collaboration. Familiarity with vegetation sampling and agricultural practices is a plus, but not required. The application process has already begun and will continue until the position is filled.
