Dear Department Chair:
Western Kentucky University has been awarded a $5.4 million dollar grant
over five years to prepare Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics teachers
for high schools in Louisville, Kentucky. The program, called GSKyTeach,
is recruiting graduating seniors or recent graduates with majors in the
above three disciplines but with no teacher preparation. The program
will pay trainees $30,000 plus benefits during the year of preparation
(June 2011 to May 2012) and all tuition costs to earn a Master of Arts
in Teaching degree. At the end of one year of preparation, the graduates
will be employed by the Jefferson County Public School system at a
minimum starting salary of $42,000. GSKyTeach is an exciting new program
- very different from traditional teacher preparation. If you know of
any seniors or recent graduates for whom this program might work, it is
a tremendous career opportunity. Attached is a copy of our program brochure.
Please feel free to visit our website at http://edtech.wku.edu/gskyteach
for more information about the program and an online application form.
The deadline for application submission is March 1, 2011.
We greatly appreciate your help in providing information about the
opportunities of GSKyTeach to seniors or recent graduates in your program.
Sincerely,
/Roger Pankratz//, PhD/
