--- Online Course Evaluations --- As the end of the semester approaches, your professors will ask you to complete evaluations of your courses. These evaluations will be entered into the Student Assessment of Instruction System (SAIS). While some evaluations may be administered in class, more than half will be administered online.

SAIS results are used in a variety of ways across campus. If you've used Tennessee 101 (https://webapps.dii.utk.edu/tn101online/) in selecting a class or instructor, you've used SAIS data. Professors use their results to evaluate teaching methods and materials. Some departments provide SAIS information to accrediting agencies for their majors. Scores also are included as a part of faculty evaluation and tenure and promotion decisions.

Moving SAIS away from paper forms will save more than 1.25 tons of paper annually, but to make the online process successful and to realize this savings fully, it is important for students to fill out the evaluations online when asked to do so. When you receive the e-mail notifying you of courses to be evaluated by online SAIS, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire.

If you have questions about SAIS, please contact Elizabeth Pemberton at [log in to unmask] or at 947-4373.
