Hey Everyone!

For those of you who attended the meeting last night, thank you. Meetings in
the future will be much more eventful with dinner and more to go over.

We talked about the New Member Recognition Event. It will be November 18 at
6 PM in the UC. There will be light refreshments served. Our regional
advisor from GK headquarters will be there to answer any questions you have.
Dress is casual to business casual.

Another point that came up was scholarships. This year each chapter can
award a $1,000 scholarship to one new member. You can apply for this on the
GK website. You'll need your membership ID to log in. Also, you have to be
present at the New Member Recognition Event to receive it. At the end of
this year, we'll be awarding scholarships to members based on service to the
organization. We have four $100 scholarships that are sponsored by GK that
we are able to give to a member of each class (sophomore, Junior, seniors,
and Graduate Students). These scholarships are funded through the GK
Headquarters office from membership dues. In addition to the membership
scholarships, we also award the Herndon-Faye Borthick Scholarship in the
amount of $500 for a senior who demonstrates a commitment to leadership,
service and academic excellence. Applications will be sent out in the spring
for these scholarships. There are other scholarships on the GK website that
are awarded by headquarters and corporate sponsors. Keep yourself posted on
the deadlines because I know some of them are coming up.

Someone mentioned doing an angel tree for the holidays. I am going to look
into that asap.

And the last thing..we need someone to be our Secretary for the 2010-2011
